By Len Simpson
Give credit where credit is due. Take the time to recognize your medical assistants throughout Medical Assistants Recognition Week, Oct. 20-24, and specifically on Medical Assistants Recognition Day, Oct. 22.
Medical assisting is an allied health profession where practitioners function as members of the health care delivery team and perform administrative and clinical procedures. With their unique versatility, medical assistants are proving to be the allied health professional of choice for this decade and beyond. In fact, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical assisting continues to be projected as one of the fastest growing occupations.*
The American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), an organization serving the professional interests and educational needs of medical assistants, promotes the national observance.** The organization also provides numerous services that help medical assistants put their careers on a successful and rewarding track including education, certification, networking opportunities, advocacy and more.
